Pre-Admission Testing (P.A.T.)
The testing described below is intended only as a guide
in preparing patients for surgery.
All patients will be contacted by a Registered Nurse from the Surgery Center. If additional testing is required, the Center will facilitate in obtaining those studies.
OFTEN NO TESTING IS REQUIRED FOR PATIENTS WHO ARE OTHERWISE HEALTHY.
EKG:
Within 6 months if patient has had a history of significant cardiac disease (specifically CABG, angina, history of heart attack or arrhythmia, hypertension, and are currently on medications for the above conditions), or insulin dependent diabetes.
Electrolytes or Basic Metabolic Test:
- History of diabetes treated with insulin ( a fasting glucose will be done at the Center the day of surgery for all patients with diabetes)
- History of severe renal or endocrine disease
Liver Function Tests:
History of severe liver disease
Pregnancy Tests:
Urine pregnancy tests will be performed on all women of childbearing years; however, any woman who is confident that she could not be pregnant may sign a waiver.
